Tapes
TEGO® RC additives can generate new business opportunities and offer solutions to problems which are not possible with traditionally cured silicones. The cold cure enables the use of heat sensitive substrates and the film thickness of polythene (PE), polypropylene (PP) or polyvinyl chloride (PVC) films can be minimized to reduce costs.
Paper substrates do not need to be remoisturized and will show absolute lay-flat performance and the extremely fast cure makes it possible to use TEGO® RC Silicones in inline processes together with adhesive coatings. Our TEGO® RC products also make using high line speeds possible using very compact curing equipment, making it simple to retrofit existing coating and converting lines with siliconizing capabilities. Compared to traditional thermal ovens, the use of UV curing equipment also saves money, space and energy.
Benefits of UV Technology
- Cold and complete curing technology
- No drying out of paper substrates / maintain lay-flat behavior
- Easily adjustable release values from premium to controlled release
- Fast and robust cure for in-line adhesive applications
- Compatible with a broad range of adhesive types
Benefits of TEGO® RC Silicones for tape applications
Self-adhesive tapes for insulation, carpet, automotive, packaging, etc., includes a variety of different substrates and release levels so the driver for innovation in tape products often comes from creative engineering. Our UV curing TEGO® RC Silicones work with many heat sensitive substrates and these free radical curing silicones can even be used to siliconize PVC film, aluminium foil, PE foams as well to coat over printed surfaces. Additionally, our controlled release silicones can be used to manufacture superior low noise clear packaging PSA (Pressure Sensitive Adhesive) tapes, and for double sided adhesive tapes (e.g., carpet tapes), differential release profiles are also possible for each side of the liner.
Our TEGO® RC Silicones offer many advantages for the production and application of tape products, both with, and without liner. Due to our energy efficient UV technology, the curing of the release coatings takes place at room temperature causing no stress to the substrate meaning all manner of heat sensitive materials like thin filmic liners or thermal papers can be used. Another benefit of using TEGO® RC Silicones is paper substrates keep their humidity to ensure excellent lay-flat behavior, and the instant cure properties of the free radical curing silicone acrylates are especially suited for inline adhesive applications. Cationic curing epoxy silicones are used for off-line adhesive applications.
