Applications

Industrial & Construction

TEGO® RC Silicones can generate new business opportunities for you and offer solutions to problems which are not possible with traditionally cured silicones. The cold cure enables the use of heat sensitive substrates and the film thickness of polythene (PE), polypropylene (PP) or polyvinyl chloride (PVC) films can be minimized to reduce costs.

Substrates do not need to be remoisturized and will show absolute lay-flat performance and the extremely fast cure makes it possible to use TEGO® RC Silicones in inline processes together with adhesive coatings.

Our TEGO® RC products enable high line speeds using only very compact curing equipment, making it simple to retrofit existing coating and converting lines with siliconizing capabilities. Compared to traditional thermal ovens, the use of UV curing equipment also saves money, space and energy.

Benefits of UV technology

  • Cold and complete curing technology
  • No drying out of paper substrates / Maintain lay-flat behavior
  • Easily adjustable release values from premium to controlled release
  • Fast and robust cure for in-line adhesive applications
  • Compatible with a broad range of adhesive types

Benefits of using TEGO® RC Silicones for electronic die-cutting applications

The electronic die-cutting industry is driven by the requirements of the end consumers for example, lightweight, narrow frames and other important properties needed to boost the performance of smartphones and tablets. Smartphones and tablets may need multiple release liners, which are used as transfer tapes or other product parts. Currently release films are mostly hand applied during the manufacturing process, but manufacturers of electronic devices are under pressure to continuously improve device performance and manufacturing productivity and efficiency.

New automated processes have increased the speed and precision of the assembly steps, resulting in an increasing requirements for the release liners; especially where control of the release force is key. Insufficient release quality means unnecessary waste in the production and die-cutting process of the transfer tape. Our TEGO® RC coatings offer excellent anchorage and guarantees superior transfer properties, providing stable premium release values along with a convenient handling.

Benefits of using TEGO® RC Silicones for composite release liners

Paper release liners are commonly used for resin coating and in prepreg manufacturing applications. Here the resin is coated onto the release liners and reinforcement material is laminated. Release liners for composite applications must bridge the elevated temperature during the prepreg process, and the low temperatures while the material is stored. Our TEGO® RC Silicones cure at room temperature and paper base liners do not need to be remoisturized after curing and show absolute lay-flat performance.

The curing mechanism of silicone acrylates is very robust and unaffected by impurities in the substrates such as a typical Clay Coated Kraft paper (CCK), Glassine or Clay Coated papers. This helps to avoid any unwanted chemical reaction between the silicone coating and the composite resin systems reducing the risk of any silicone transfer to the prepreg surface.

Benefits of using TEGO® RC Silicones in construction

Filmic release liners are used in building and construction applications such as roofing, insulation, and waterproofing products. Colored and non-colored films of high-density polyethylene (HDPE), low-density polyethylene (LDPE), polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) films are typically used for self-adhesive products, based on bitumen and asphaltic adhesives. The cold cure of TEGO® RC Silicones enables the use of heat sensitive substrates.
